A road traffic accident involving a single lady living alone who was knocked off her bike. Liability was never admitted, and Counsel’s advice was that the claim would not be successful. The client was a walking tetraplegic who had made an extremely good recovery, but had weakness in her legs together with ongoing pain. She was however still able to walk and remained independent. Cate secured a settlement of £400,000.

The claimant was riding an e-bike, established on a roundabout when the defendant pulled out onto the roundabout, across his path, resulting in a collision. He sustained a significant injury to his right elbow, described as a “terrible triad” injury, requiring surgery to insert metalwork. His symptoms were deemed permanent, and they would have an impact on his future employment prospects and his ability to do certain activities. Despite liability being denied in full throughout the case, a settlement of £208k was achieved for the client.

Acting for a cyclist who suffered fractured knee and psychological injuries, affecting their return to the pre accident employment. Achieved a settlement for over £2 million.

The claimant, a cyclist, entered a roundabout when the defendant failed to give way to him and knocked him off his bike. He sustained a head injury, tinnitus, PTSD and a fractured spine. All remained ongoing, however due to the claimant's mental health he wanted to accept a pre-medical offer. The case settled for £155,000, which meant that the claimant could purchase his first home.

‘NA’ – Road traffic accident, cyclist knocked from his bicycle by a HGV

Our client instructed us following an accident on his bicycle which resulted in a crushing injury to his ankle. Claire started early engagement of the Defendant which resulted in further access to physiotherapy rehabilitation which improved NA's physical recovery. NA was able to return to work in a full-time capacity and returned to his hobby of running.

T – Public liability accident

T sustained scarring injuries to his face as a result of cycling into a pothole which was not visible because it was waterfilled as a result of heavy rain. The council denied liability but eventually after heavy pressure from Peter, they conceded that they were aware of the pothole but had failed to repair it.

‘Edward’ – Knocked off his bicycle by a lorry

In this case, our client was a cyclist who was driven into by a lorry and knocked off. It is then believed that the rear wheels of the lorry ran over his lower limbs causing multiple fractures, a degloving injury along with facial fractures, dental damage and multiple cuts.
