The Incident
Our client was riding his motorcycle when the defendant pulled out of a side road and collided with him. This caused our client to eject from his motorcycle to avoid a fatal outcome.
The Aftermath
The collision resulted in severe lower limb injuries, as well as psychological injuries. The client was taken to hospital and underwent a 5-hour operation to repair a severed artery in his left leg. His leg was pinned, but the following day it was advised that he would need a below knee amputation, which was performed the same day.
The Case
The case was handled by Partner and Serious Injury Solicitor, Siobhan Thacker, alongside Solicitor, Lauren Phillips.
Given the severity of our client’s injuries, securing early rehabilitation was a top priority. Through interim payments, we ensured access to a case manager and timely rehabilitation support.
The Outcome
The client was keen to resolve matters as soon as possible; the case progressed quickly and was settled for £2.4M.
Prior to the incident, our client lived in a home with steep, narrow stairs, which was unsuitable for wheelchair use or easy navigation on crutches. The compensation has enabled him to secure more accessible accommodation and a vehicle which can be adapted to his needs.
On resolution of the case, Solicitor, Lauren Phillips commented:
“This was a great outcome for our client – one we as a team are really proud of securing early on for our client which allowed him to put litigation behind him and move forwards with his rehabilitation in his own time. He was always really motivated, and we know this settlement means a lot to him as it does us”.
