The incident

A 42-year-old security supervisor was riding his motorbike along a main road when another vehicle pulled out of a junction and collided into his side, knocking him off his bike.

The client suffered a head injury and lost consciousness. He also sustained multiple broken ribs, as well as injuries to his neck, right arm, chest and right foot. He later developed weakness in his left arm and left leg.

As well as his physical injuries, our client experienced psychological symptoms and was diagnosed with an adjustment disorder with anxiety and depressed mood.

The case

The case was handled by Personal Injury Solicitor, Jane Lyons, with support from Trainee Solicitor, Matthew Burke and Paralegal, Sarah Campbell.

Following the accident, we requested intensive rehabilitation to aid our client’s recovery. We were successful and our client received almost two years of rehab which was funded by the other side. This meant that he underwent several tests and received treatment for both his physical and psychological injuries on a private basis, avoiding potentially lengthy delays that he faced using NHS services.

This treatment and rehabilitation made a huge difference to our client’s recovery.

The case outcome

Liability was admitted early on in the process, but an initial offer of compensation was rejected – we felt this was not a fair offer to compensation his suffering. We obtained further evidence, including expert medical evidence and were able to negotiate a more significant settlement for our client, which was accepted. The case settled for £55,000.

Due to his psychological symptoms, our client was keen to bring thing to a resolution and thanks to the hard work of our lawyers, we were able to secure fair compensation for our client, without the need to attend court.

Following the case, Jane commented:

“I am really pleased that my client was happy with his claim settlement. Now that his claim has concluded, he can continue to make good psychological progress without the stresses of litigation. I wish him all the best for the future.”

The client added:

“Overall, really happy with the service I have received. It has been a very long and at times stressful process, but I felt that my solicitors were on hand to answer my questions honestly and professionally.  I would highly recommend to anyone needing their services.”
