The incident

Our client was travelling by motorcycle when a driver turned right across his path, causing a collision. He suffered a fracture dislocation to his right hip joint complicated by a sciatic nerve injury. He also suffered a cut to his left thigh and his chin, as well as psychological trauma and impairment of his memory and concentration.

The case

The client was represented by Chartered Legal Executives, Victoria Martin, and Katie Rutter. The driver of the other vehicle was found to be uninsured, and so the case was brought against him and the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), under the Uninsured Drivers’ Agreement.

The aftermath

Following the accident, our client underwent surgery to the hip but due to the damage to the joint surface, it is likely he will develop osteoarthritis of the hip and therefore require hip replacement surgery in the future.

The case outcome

Thanks to the hard work of our legal team, the client received a compensation settlement of £200,000, which will help significantly as he adjusts to life after serious injury. On resolution of the case, Victoria commented:

“We are thrilled to have negotiated the settlement achieved in this matter despite the lengthy delays encountered dealing with the MIB.  A significant relationship of trust was built with our client during the short period we had conduct of the file from February 2023 and he embraced the process we guided him through, which at times became very challenging. We wish our client and his family all the best in the future and hope they enjoy owning their first home together.”

The client added:

“Wow! You are the bearer of FANTASTIC news! Thank you ever so much. We are over the moon. I am someone who doesn’t understand the legal system, how it works and all of the jargon. However, from the moment they offered me their services I felt supported and understood. I was kept well informed, and the advice was taken with confidence. Myself and my family are very grateful to the team and we can’t thank them enough.”
