A routine journey became life-changing for our client, a skilled TIG welder in his early 30s, when a truck driver merged into his lane without warning and struck his motorbike on a dual carriageway. The collision left him with devastating injuries, including a spinal fracture, multiple fractures to his wrists, femur, pelvis, ribs and shoulder, as well as chronic pain and lasting psychological trauma.
Once physically strong and active, he faced months of treatment and surgery, with further operations, including a hip replacement, still expected. Despite returning to work, his injuries mean he is unlikely to continue in his profession long-term, forcing him to face the reality of reduced earning capacity and an earlier retirement.
Determined not to let the accident define him, he is now planning to build his own welding business. Throughout his recovery, our Serious Injury Law team, led by solicitors Victoria Martin and Dale Bickerstaffe, worked with medical experts to ensure the full, lifelong impact of the crash was recognised.
Their expertise secured a £450,000 settlement, providing vital support for his ongoing rehabilitation, future treatment, and financial security as he rebuilds his life.
