A man who was told he would never walk again following a spinal injury has set off on a charity trek that will see him cover 2,012 miles.
The Argus reports how former soldier major Phil Packer has defied medical experts in order to complete the impressive feat.
Mr Packer is hoping to raise £15 million to help fund a Centre of Inspirational Excellence near Chichester.
So far, he has covered 32 miles and has 1,980 to go before finishing his trek of Britain.
The youth of the UK are invited to walk alongside Mr Packer, while schools are encouraged to organise and complete their own 2,012 event.
In a post featured on the British Inspiration Trust's (Brit) website, the fundraiser described how a Centre for Inspirational Excellence can help young people who "face their darkest times to regain self-worth, self-belief and self-confidence".
Mr Packer served in the armed forced for 17 years before spinal cord damage sustained while on duty in 2008 forced him to retire. He founded Brit in January 2011.
