Two recovery bed prototypes have been praised by Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for their ability to help rehabilitate those suffering from a spinal injury.
The Birmingham Mail reports how apprentices from BAE Systems created the devices to help military patients.
One of the beds allows individuals to see real-time pictures of their environment and enjoy live video links with their family and friends despite being forced to lie flat.
Critical care matron at the hospital Helen Gyves described how both of the devices "would be of enormous benefit to patients".
She claimed the teams from the global defence, security and aerospace company presented a very "high standard" of prototypes.
The second bed provided 360-degree vision so users can read books and watch TV.
BAE Systems delivers a range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, including advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and support across the globe.
