British Winter Olympic hopeful Serita Shone is set to undergo more surgery to correct a spinal injury sustained during a bobsleigh training session in Germany.
The 22-year-old bobsleigh brakewoman has already undergone one operation, following the accident on the Winterberg course in Germany.
Her crash occurred on the lower section of the ice track, where she was preparing for the British Championships alongside driver Fiona Harrison, who also suffered a head injury.
Speaking to the Telegraph, British Bobsleigh performance director Gary Anderson explained: "We've asked what the prognosis is and the doctors aren’t prepared to give that prognosis until after the next operation but they are positive after today’s operation.
"She has feeling in her limbs but she’s still quite heavily sedated. She’s talking, but it doesn’t make much sense."
Mr Anderson added surgeons had been happy they'd been able to stabilise Shone's spine following the accident, where it had been fractured.
Shone joined the Team GB bobsleigh team after switching from athletics, where she competed as a heptathlete.
