Businesses do not take enough care to avoid workplace accidents that could result in brain and spinal injury, one expert from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has indicated.
Roger Bibbings, an occupational safety adviser at the organisation, said that many employers ignore vital health and safety advice.
He names areas such as road risk, ergonomics, fire and noise and vibration as those which are particularly overlooked, saying that directors should lead the way and involve employees in health and safety more.
"None of these things has to cost the Earth - and if you think safety is expensive, try having an accident," he said.
In other news, those with spinal injury who decide to undergo spinal fusion surgery could suffer a worse outcome than those who opt for more conservative treatment methods.
According to HealthDay news, scientists from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine found that those who have spinal fusion surgery are left worse off in almost all categories.
