Boy makes 'miraculous' spinal injury recovery

A toddler has made a miraculous recovery after suffering a traumatic spinal injury during a traffic accident.

Micah Andrews suffered "internal decapitation" during the collision, whereby a violent jolt caused his skull to separate from his spine.

Doctors say it was a miracle he survived in the first place, when the slightest movement could have caused paralysis or death.

Two months after the operation, Micah has been released from hospital and is able to walk and talk again.

Dr Nicholas Theodore, a neurosurgeon at Barrow Neurological Institute who treated Micah said: "when I first saw Micah I certainly never would have imagined at this point that he'd be looking as good as he does, and I think he continues to surprise us."

This comes after a teenage singer made an incredible recovery from a spinal injury after turning down an operation and undergoing four weeks of intensive physiotherapy.
