The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada has chosen the founder of a head and spinal injury prevention project as its new president.
Dr Francescutti was the former director of the Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research and also founded HEROES, a head and spinal cord injury prevention project aimed at teenagers.
The acclaimed doctor emphasised the importance of improving health care in Canada.
"Postgraduate medical education needs to enable our future physicians to meet the increasingly complex health needs of Canadians. Given the rapid rise of technological advances, we have to ensure that practicing physicians have access to the resources they need to continue to learn throughout their careers so they can serve Canadians better."
Louis Hugo Francescutti is a strong force for injury prevention. According to his website, he believes that spinal injury is "100 per cent predictable and preventable".
