'Don't give up', spinal cord injury patients told

A boy who was left paralysed at the age of two has told spinal cord injury sufferers to never give up.

Joe Griffin, from Florida, has just undergone an operation to correct the curvature of his spine that should prevent his organs eventually being crushed, the Sun Journal reports.

Fourteen-year-old Joe was left with a permanent disability after he fell out of his bed when an infant.

The operation succeeded in correcting his 96-degree spinal curvature, limiting it to 20 degrees.

"Don't ever give up. If the doctors say you can’t or won't be able to do something again, forget what they say. It can be done," he advised people who recently suffered a spinal cord injury.

He also told the newspaper that he is feeling good after his operation and has recently been competing in inter-school academic challenges.

The news comes after NewsOn6.com reported that an Oklahoma girl is making a "miraculous" recovery after a spinal injury suffered in a vehicle accident.
