Woman running London Marathon for spinal injury charity

A woman is set to give a spinal injury charity a boost by taking part in the London Marathon to raise funds on its behalf.

Sophie Adam, who has a metal cage holding her back in place after fracturing her spine last summer, will represent the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, reports Plymouth-based newspaper the Herald.

Ms Adam will walk one mile of the race alongside paraplegic Phil Packer, who will be completing a mile an hour and raising awareness about 26 different charities in the process.

People are able to support the pair by visiting philpacker.com.

"I'm so excited about the opportunity and, of course, my family and friends are really proud of me. I just can't wait for the big day itself now!" Ms Adam told the newspaper.

Last week it was revealed that Mr Packer will be joined by 15-year-old Ben Sneesby representing the Back-Up Trust on his ninth mile of the marathon.
