A woman has sustained injuries including possible spinal injury after her car flipped on to its side in North Yorkshire.
The accident happened at 18:00 GMT yesterday as the woman, who is in her 40s, was driving from Flixton to Staxton near Scarborough in a silver Ford Ka, the Scarborough Evening News reported.
According to the newspaper, fire-fighters had to cut the woman free from the car and she was taken to Scarborough Hospital suffering with an injury to her shoulder, possible spinal injuries and cuts and bruises.
The A1039 at Staxton was closed for an hour while the emergency services attended the scene of the accident.
Car accidents are one of the common causes of spinal injury, according to the website spinalinjury.net.
It defines spinal cord injury (SCI) as damage to the spinal cord that results in a loss of function, such as mobility or feeling. The spinal cord does not have to be severed in order for a loss of functioning to occur.
