A 15-year-old who has suffered a spinal cord injury has been able to carry on with one of his hobbies thanks to a furry friend.
Patrick Ivison was in an accident as a child but has since taken up many adaptive sports, with surfing being his speciality, reported Global Surf News.
Teamed with a golden retriever called Ricochet, the pair have been hitting the waves to practice the activity in tandem, it added.
Although the dog has previously surfed with other canines, the website explained this was the first time he had tried the sport with a person.
"Ricochet and Patrick rode their first wave all the way to the beach," the online resource stated.
"They were so stoked they continued riding wave after wave, as if they had been surfing together forever."
Nicknamed Rick Curl Ricki, the canine is part of a fundraising programme called Surfin for Paws-abilities, which helps people with disabilities take part in the sport.
