Three people are set to take part in a road race to raise funds for a pair of twins who suffer from type-two spinal muscular dystrophy.
Four-year-olds Sam and Alex Bolton use wheelchairs and may not survive into adulthood, reports the Derby Telegraph.
Family friends Kevin Troop, Chris Bolton and Pete Manning have decided to run in the Derby 10k race on April 11th and donate their sponsorship money to the boys.
Meanwhile, the lads' dad Ian is also set to take part in the road race and will devote the money he raises to Rainbows Children's Hospice, which the twins enjoy visiting.
The genetic condition the twins suffer from causes the spinal cord to deteriorate, while also breaking the link between the brain and the muscles.
Sarah Wilson, the twins' mother, told the newspaper that it is hoped some of the money raised will go towards treating Alex and Sam with a trip to Disney World in Florida.
The NHS states that type-two spinal muscular dystrophy is also known as Dubowitz disease and it usually develops when an infant is between six to 18 months of age.
