Spinal technology set to be developed under new partnership

A non-invasive spinal injury technology is set to be distributed by Gamma Spine and X-spine Systems under a new licensing agreement.

The exclusive deal will cover the development and distribution of the patent-pending device, which enables adjacent vertebral segments to be fixed with minimal tissue disruption.

Commenting following the announcement, Gamma Spine founder Dr Vijay Goel explained: "X-spine is the ideal partner to bring this technology to the worldwide marketplace.

"The company has an excellent track record of bringing innovative technology to fruition through its top-down emphasis on engineering, research and development."

Earlier this month, researchers from the University of Maryland successfully demonstrated a non-invasive technique for reconstructing 3D hand motions using brain signals recorded in a non-invasive way.

It is hoped this newly-developed technology will be used to develop systems capable of assisting those with spinal injury that struggle with everyday tasks.
