Spinal injury sufferer hails energy treatment

A sufferer of a spinal injury has significantly reduced her symptoms through alternative methods, according to a report.

Lee Benton told the Press-Enterprise she feels less pain after undertaking a course in "energy medicine", a treatment that uses psychological techniques.

The 57-year-old stated she spent two decades looking for a cure for her illness following an accident that affected the nerves in her back.

However, four years ago she discovered the energy approach and has gone on to teach classes to other people with spinal injuries.

She holds the lessons at Mount San Jacinto College after gaining a master's degree in holistic nutrition, according to the article.

Explaining how the method works, she told the news provider: "We have physical, mental and emotional bodies.

"Energy is the link that connects them together."

In related news, staff at Neuralstem are currently working on a treatment for spinal cord injuries.

They are conducting tests on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - a type of paralysis - after being given the green light by the US Food and Drug Administration.
