A woman who is taking part in the London Marathon this weekend (April 25th) on behalf of the Spinal Injuries Association is said to be raring to go.
Sharon Chesworth, 35, broke her neck when she was aged 16 and is running to raise money for people who find themselves in a similar position, reports the Croydon Advertiser.
She is hoping to raise the impressive sum of more than £1,500 for this year's epic race.
"I've decided to do the marathon to raise some money and give something back to the people who've helped me," Ms Chesworth told the paper.
"And, of course, I want to get a better time than last year," she added.
Meanwhile, another woman who has a metal cage holding her back in place after fracturing her spine last year is also set to take part in the marathon.
Plymouth-based newspaper the Herald reported that Sophie Adam will walk one mile of the race alongside paraplegic Phil Packer, who will be completing a mile with a different co-runner each hour to raise awareness for 26 different charities.
