Spinal cord injury sufferer 'making great strides'

A spinal cord injury sufferer is aiming to return to her studies after making great strides in her rehabilitation, it has been claimed.

Flynn Murray, from Moorhead in America, underwent surgery on the ailment after being involved in a car accident six months ago, according to reports published on a number of websites by Forum Communications.

The 23-year-old spent time recovering in hospitals in Colorado and Montana but has now returned home in an attempt to improve her physical condition further.

She hopes to carry on with her engineering course at Montana State University in 2010, the website stated.

Commenting to the news provider, a friend of her family Pat Murphy stated the patient's loved ones were relieved the mishap did not have more damaging consequences.

"There's worse things that could've happened and that didn't occur to me for quite a while after Flynn's accident. In a lot of ways, we're very fortunate," he said.

Another spinal cord injury sufferer battling to beat her illness is 15-year-old Madison Lawson, who is striving to be considered for the Canadian Para-Equestrian Team for the 2012 games in London, according to the North Bay Nugget.
