Paralysed man opens second company

A man who is paralysed from the waist down has not let his spinal injury hold him back from achieving his goal of setting up two companies.

Kenny Blaney was involved in a swimming accident in 1996 and, as a result of the spinal injury he sustained, has been paralysed ever since, the Free Lance-Star reports.

While in recovery, Mr Blaney watched the film the People vs Larry Flynt, about a man who was paralysed from the waist down yet managed to build a fortune.

The film gave Mr Blaney hope so he began to research business grants and, two year's after his accident, he opened a second-hand car dealership, according to the newspaper.

Mr Blaney recently gained final approval to start another company, Anytime Limousines LLC.

The 37-year-old told the newspaper that he hopes others in a similar situation will do as he has done and make the most of what they have.

"They don't have to collect disability [benefit] for the rest of their lives, they can go out and pursue their dreams," he said.

This is London recently reported that a man paralysed in a car accident is now able to stand unassisted after surgery repositioned and freed his spinal cord.
