A girl paralysed from the waist down has been selected for Great Britain's 2012 Paralympics development team.
Lauren Jones, from Worthing, sustained a spinal injury when she fell from a tree in June.
The 14-year-old has been discharged from the spinal injuries unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and is planning to return to school once she gets her bespoke wheel chair, due to arrive next week, the Argus reported.
Lauren was a keen footballer but has been told she will never walk again, but, recently, she was picked to train for Great Britain's 2012 Paralympics development team, according to the newspaper.
So far an appeal launched for the teenager has raised over £32,000.
Paralympics GB is holding a number of Paralympic Potential Days (PPDs) across Britain.
PPDs are national talent identification events aimed at discovering athletes whose development can be fast-tracked for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Potentially talented individuals with disabilities, including those with spinal injuries, are invited to attend each event after submitting a Talent Screening Questionnaire found online.
