Motorcycle team pledges support to spinal injury fundraiser

A spinal injury charity has launched a fundraising campaign in collaboration with a motorcycle race team.

The Spinal Unit Action Group (SUAG) has teamed up with World Supersport Championship's Parkalgar Honda in a bid to raise £30,000 for charity, reports Superbike News.

Speaking to the magazine about the campaign, rider Eugene Laverty said: "Spinal injuries are very common with motorcyclists and racing so I am happy to be supporting SUAG.

"Anything to help people and their families with spinal injuries is a good thing in my book."

Meanwhile, the Spinal Injuries Association recently announced the launch of Inline Sledge Hockey at the Lord Roberts Centre in Surrey.

The collaboration with the British Sledge Hockey Association was conceived to enable disabled amateur sports enthusiasts to compete against non-disabled players under the same conditions.

Sledge Hockey is a variation of ice hockey using sledges, that enables players to propel themselves around in a manner similar to skiing.
