A farmer who was paralysed when a bale of hay, weighing a ton, fell on him has thanked those that aided him in his recovery from the spinal injury.
Robert Field, 23, was working on a farm in Hapton, Norfolk, when the accident occurred. His back and jaw were broken and one of his main arteries was severed, the Burnley Citizen reported.
Mr Field was taken to a hospital in Preston by air ambulance and was later transferred to the spinal injury unit at Southport and Formby District General Hospital.
He has raised £20,000 for spinal injury research and the North West Air Ambulance since his accident.
The North West Air Ambulance was established in 1999 and covers 5,500 sq miles and a population of seven million people. It receives no funding from the government or the lottery, relying solely on donations from the public.
Speaking to the newspaper, Mr Field thanked everyone who attended the fund-raising events that he organised.
"I'm now back doing what I love - feeding the cows and moving the bales of hay and carrying out the usual jobs you do around a farm again.
"It gives me a reason to get up in the morning," he added.
