Two equestrian pros from New Zealand are to take part in this year's New York Marathon to raise money for a spinal cord injury research.
Olympic equestrian Mark Todd and tetraplegic former international equestrian Catriona Williams are to join in the annual event on November 7th, TVNZ reported.
Along with 18 other New Zealand nationals, the pair hope to raise money for the CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Trust, which funds research into cures for spinal cord injuries.
Ms Williams sustained a spinal injury in a fall while competing in a show jumping event in 2002 but the New Zealander is planning on completing the up-and-coming marathon using a hand-cycle.
A British ex-rugby player that suffers from a spinal injury is defying medical professionals that told him he would need round-the-clock care for the rest of his life by using a hand-cycle to travel across New Zealand, the Herald reported in December.
