A major shareholder at a corporate broker firm has committed to giving his annual bonus to spinal injury charities.
Andy Stewart, founder and shareholder at Cenkos, has agreed with the board that £250,000 will be donated to The Andy Stewart Charitable Foundation this year.
The foundation has a number of charitable beneficiaries, including the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), The Spinal Trust and Help for Heroes, which raises funds to support soldiers returning from warzones with brain, spine and other injuries.
Announced in the company's annual report, this will mean that Mr Stewart will receive no personal bonus in 2010.
Charities such as the SIA organise a number of important events and services to help support disabled sufferers of spinal injury.
The association recently received a grant from the Rebuilding Lives Through Sport initiative, enabling the charity to assist in the British Disabled Ski Team's plan to build an Adult and Youth Development Squad.
