Bus brings beauty to spinal cord injury sufferers

An organisation is trying to help patients - including those affected by a spinal cord injury - by offering them some TLC and pampering.

The Beauty Bus Foundation aims to improve the standard of life of individuals who are home-bound by providing them with grooming treatments free of charge, explained the Examiner.

As well as offering services to those with spinal cord injury, it also treats sufferers of Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy and stroke, the online resource added.

Co-founder of the project Alicia Liotta explained to the website why she thinks the organisation is important.

"We believe that quality of life services are an integral part of coping and healing for … the patient," she said.

"The Beauty Bus reaches out to compromised and isolated individuals and brings beauty into their lives."

Established earlier this year, the project was thought up after the founders lost a family member to degenerative neuromuscular disease.
