Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals formed

A new body that aims to provide support to people living with spinal injuries has been launched.

The Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals brings together social workers, doctors, nurses, psychologists, rehabilitation therapists and a range of other medical professionals.

It is also supported by the Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans).

Commenting on the news, Dr Terrie Price, president of the body, said the members of the academy will work together to offer better quality of life outcomes and treatments for people who live with spinal injuries.

"With the right partners, you can achieve anything," the newly-elected representative added.

Maurice Jordan, Paralyzed Veterans' deputy national executive director, stated that the organisation, which was founded in 1946, is proud to support the work of the new body and that it is "excited" about its interdisciplinary approach to enhancing healthcare quality.

The new body has a tagline of Many Minds, One Vision.
