Brain injury victim Michelle Coulson nominated for Headway award

A brain injury victim who has been shortlisted for Headway's Campaigner of the Year accolade claims she "just likes helping".

Michelle Coulson from Aberdeen was involved in a car crash seven years ago and is among three people lined up for the charity's award, set to be named on December 2nd at a special presentation at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

Ms Coulson explained: "I don't think I'm special.

"I enjoy speaking about my brain injury as it makes me feel useful and that something good can come from the accident."

Mark Cooper, who ran 50 marathons in 56 days to raise money for brain injury sufferers and other causes, is also on the shortlist.

The other finalist is Mary Read, who dedicated her life to improving brain injury services across Lincolnshire after her son suffered a head trauma in a road accident.

There will also be presentations for Carer of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Achiever of the Year and the Outstanding Contribution to Headway award.
