Brain injury awareness week

Events have been taking place round the country to raise awareness of brain injury as part of Headway's brain injury awareness week, running from May 9th to the 15th.

Staff at Goole's Neuro Rehabilitation Centre have organised a range of events throughout the week, including a bag pack at Morrisons and a fancy dress bed push, reports the Goole - Howden Courier.

Centre Manager Hilary McDaid told the publication: "A traumatic head injury can affect a person's cognition, memory and behaviour. If people are more aware of the causes and effects of brain injury, we hope it will promote safer lifestyle and in turn reduce the number of people it affects."

Headway South Lanarkshire has also got in on the act, setting up a sponsored walk around Strathclyde Park this Sunday (May 15th), with humorous headwear encouraged for the theme 'Hats for Headway'.
