A group of experts from different fields are to discuss traumatic brain injury at Arrowhead's Annual Traumatic Brain Injury Conference.
Individuals from the pharmaceutical industry, military, government and academia are to gather on March 7th to discuss brain injury research, development of therapies and commercialisation of new treatments.
Topics will include acute traumatic brain injury, chronic neurorehabilitation and preventing secondary damage in those with traumatic brain injury, as well as the use of biomarkers and molecular diagnostics in diagnosis of the condition.
Additionally, time will be spent considering neuroprotection, breaking through the blood-brain barrier for enhanced drug delivery, the use of animal models and how effective clinical trials can be designed.
In other brain injury news, fluorescent peptides could soon be utilised during brain injury surgery, according to research published in journal Nature Biotechnology.
Scientists discovered that injectable fluorescent peptides made hard-to-see peripheral nerves glow during surgery, lessening the chance of further brain injury.
