A woman has been compensated £8 million in damaged after her daughter was left with a brain injury shortly after her birth, reports say.
Ayesha Canning-Kishver was born prematurely at Birmingham City Hospital, weighing just 1lb 2oz, reports the Express & Star.
The baby then contracted staphylococcos epidermidis and klebsiella organisms during her stay at the hospital, leaving her with a brain injury that means she will need care for the rest of her life.
Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust denied that a negligence of their staff led to the incident, but a High Court Trial found them to be liable.
This comes after a man died from severe brain injury during a warm up jousting match for Channel 4's Time Team.
Paul Allen, 54, was jousting in preparation for filming when a piece of balsa wood tip flew through the eye-slit of his helmet, penetrating his eye and leaving him with the fatal brain injury.
