Paralysed American football player Eric LeGrand, who suffered severe spinal injury after making a tackle during a game, has moved on to the next phase of his treatment.
The defensive tackle for Rutgers University has been moved to a spinal cord rehabilitation centre, it was announced.
LeGrand remains paralysed from the neck down and has been admitted to the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey.
"Eric is in good spirits and is anxious to take the next step in his rehabilitation process," said the player's mother, Karen.
"Thank you to everyone for the tremendous outpouring of love, support and prayers for Eric."
LeGrand's case was one of those which triggered calls for sports safety and injury to be taken more seriously, with the American Academy of Neurology making a recommendation that any player suspected to have a concussion be removed from play.
The NFL also promised to crack down on illegal tackles after a spate of player brain injuries in October.
