All necessary steps were taken to avoid the brain injury suffered by an extra on the set of the third Transformers film, safety inspectors have said.
The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA) has cleared producers of the film, after a freak accident left a woman with permanent brain damage paralysis.
Twenty-four-year-old Gabriela Cedillo was working on the set of Transformers 3 when a cable holding a car snapped free when a weld failed, splitting open her skull.
"The weld was made by a certified welder and all necessary safety precautions were in place. No citations or fines will be issued. This was an unfortunate and unforeseeable accident," an IOSHA spokesman said.
It is thought that the family is launching a brain injury compensation claim against Paramount Pictures and metal firm Ryerson Inc.
The news comes after an $11 million (£7 million) brain injury claim was settled in the US last month, after mistakes made in the delivery of a baby left the child with permanent brain damage.
