Woman left with brain injury after Rottweiler incident

In a case that shows just how easy a life can change forever, a woman in the US has been left with a brain injury after hitting her head on a pavement when she was knocked down by a dog.

Kristy Koetje, from Portage in Michigan, was collecting her post when a neighbour's Rottweiler bounded over to her and knocked her over.

The dog has been handed over to authorities and could be put down.

It is understood that the owners of the Rottweiler are co-operating with the investigation and are very sorry for what happened.

Ms Koetje was taken to hospital in a critical condition, but is thought to faring better now.

Recently, a freak accident resulted in Olympic rower James Cracknell suffering a traumatic brain injury while in the US.

He was knocked off his bicycle by a truck and it is thought his cycle helmet prevented the incident being worse.
