A company has been fined after admitting to failures that resulted in a worker suffering a traumatic brain injury.
Gwyndaf Davies fell through a roof of a farm building onto a concrete floor last year and was left with a brain injury that meant he cannot walk without help.
The 22-year-old is blind in one eye, has had to undergo facial reconstruction surgery and continues to undergo intensive speech and physiotherapy.
It is thought he will need care for the rest of his life.
His employer Delme L James Ltd admitted to failing to take steps to prevent workers falling from heights and was fined £8,000, although a brain injury claim may also be forthcoming.
Health and Safety Executive inspector Ann Marie Orrells said: "This situation could so easily have been prevented and Mr Davies and his family are still trying to come to terms with the lasting effects of what has happened."
The news comes after a Stoke-on-Trent steeplejack was fined the same amount after a worker fell from scaffolding, leaving him in plaster for 16 weeks.
