A Canadian soldier who suffered a traumatic brain injury while serving in Afghanistan has married his fiancee after four years of rehabilitation.
Trevor Greene was left with a severe brain injury after being attacked with an axe in 2006, the Vancouver Sun reports.
Mr Greene has shocked doctors with his recovery, after many thought he may be confined to a bed for the rest of his life.
He can now pull himself up to stand and can drink wine.
Mr Greene has now married his fiance Debbie and the couple have a daughter who was one year old at the time of her father's injury.
"I'd never thought we would get to where we are today," said Mrs Greene.
The news comes as scientists are beginning to identify traumatic brain injury as a signature injury of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, with large portions of US and British troops having suffered some form of the condition.
