Man died from brain injury after trying to break up fight

A fight led to the death of a 26-year-old man from a brain injury, an inquest has heard.

Denis Nolan died in November 2008 after trying to separate two brothers who were fighting on the main street in Glanworth village in Ireland.

Mr Nolan was struck several times in the fracas, which also involved his cousin Sean Crowley who punched him in the head several times.

The traumatic brain injury Mr Nolan suffered was caused by a leaking artery that caused a catastrophic build up of blood in his brain.

Despite investigations carried out by the Irish gardai, no prosecutions have been forthcoming and the coroner recorded a narrative verdict that Mr Nolan died in accordance with the medical evidence.

The news comes after an assault victim in Devon was killed after getting out of the ambulance that was taking him to hospital.
