A man who was left with a brain injury after surviving a vicious attack could play football at the 2012 Paralympics, it has been reported.
Robbie Hughes, who had his head repeatedly stamped on while on holiday, is in talks with the Great Britain Paralympic football team to be included in the squad, the Croydon Guardian reports.
The footballer, who used to play for Sutton United and Croydon Athletic, had to endure four life-saving operations and suffered 15-year memory loss after he was attacked outside a nightclub in Malia in 2008.
The FA's Jeff Davis has been speaking to Mr Hughes about the possibility of playing for the GB squad in 2012.
"People hear the word disability and they think it's not for them, but once they see the standard here, they think differently," Mr Davis told the newspaper.
"It would be great for Robbie to come up and see what we do."
GB's cerebral palsy seven-a-side football team recently won bronze at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester after beating the USA team.
