Suffering a brain injury can mean a long and arduous process of recovery, according to some acquired brain injury survivors.
In an article for the Guardian, brain injury patient Tim Lusher described the difficult steps that he has taken since suffering from an abscess of the cerebellum.
He said that while the goal of getting back to work can act as a great motivator, it can sometimes get in the way of recovery.
Meanwhile Sarah Caldwell, who suffered a cyst on her brain, found that going back to her job of teaching tango was a key step to getting better.
"I realised that tango steps helped me with coordination and not to feel dizzy," she explained.
Brain injury charity Headway is calling on volunteers to go on a Kilimanjaro trek this October to raise money for brain injuries.
The trek runs from October 15th to the 24th and requires a minimum sponsorship of £3,250.
