Triathlon challenge raises funds for brain injury project

A group of young people have taken part in a triathlon challenge to raise funds for a community facility for people with brain injuries.

The Prince's Trust volunteers in Kidderminster managed to raise £150 for a project to renovate a garden area for brain injury patients in Wyre Forest, reports the Shuttle newspaper.

In succeeding in the epic challenge, the team had to complete at least 135 miles between them on a combination of a treadmill, rowing machine and bike.

Dawn Rennie, assistant team leader, told the newspaper that such a challenge can teach those involved invaluable lessons about teamwork and organisational skills.

"It is also about breaking down barriers within the community and proving that young adults are not all troublemakers and that they do deserve to be given a chance," she added.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that a brain injuries support facility in Evesham, Worcestershire, needs more funds if it is to continue providing all of its specialist services.

The Evesham Journal revealed that the Acquired Brain Injury Unit needs to raise around £45,000 in order to bridge its funding gap.
