Traumatic brain injury rehabilitation website launched

A website that delivers managed cognitive therapies for impairments caused by traumatic brain injury and other neurotraumatic, neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions was launched today.

HAPPYneuron Incorporated announced the launch of its online platform HAPPYneuron PRO, today at the SharpBrains Global Virtual conference.

The rehabilitation program, which was designed by Dr Bernard Croisile, MD Neurology, PhD Neuropsychology, can be customised to meet unique patient needs.

Exercises included in the programme have been used in France for over seven years by cognitive therapists.

The cognitive stimulation exercises take the form of interactive Flash games that are each designed to increase patient engagement and target particular cognitive functions, such as memory, attention, language and visual-spatial skills.

"Our patients are motivated to work on these web-based exercises because of the appeal of the exercises themselves, and because they are able to track their own progress and performance," said Enid Gertmenian, of Lieber Recovery and Rehabilitation Clinic, New York City.

Meanwhile, a drug therapy which could minimise death and disability caused by traumatic brain injury is soon to undergo clinical trials in UC Davis Medical Center's level-1 trauma centre in the US.
