A presentation is to take place in California next Tuesday (February 9th), aimed at raising awareness of traumatic brain injuries.
The Marin Brain Injury Network presentation is to be held at Corte Madera Recreation Center and will include a documentary made by a local high school student whose cousin suffered a traumatic brain injury while playing sport at school.
Included in the documentary is information about brain injuries and the services that Marin Brain Injury Network offers.
The network is a non-profit organisation and has been providing supportive and rehabilitative services to brain injury survivors and their families since 1983.
On the day of the presentation, attendees are asked to contribute a dish to the potluck lunch, which will be served between 12:10 and 12:30 (local time) before the hour-long presentation begins at 12:30 (local time).
Elsewhere in the US, a special treadmill with harnesses to support body weight is being used in the rehabilitation of patients with traumatic brain injuries.
Nationwide Children's Hospital are using the treadmill to improve the muscle strength and endurance of these patients.
