A new service for people who have suffered brain injuries such as strokes will get them back on their feet, it has been stated.
The Changing Lives resource will be run by two charities Momentum North East (MNE) and The Stroke Association (SA) with the aim of helping head trauma patients to rebuild their confidence.
Staff at the Tyne and Wear centre will aim to guide people back into jobs by offering upskilling sessions which incorporate computer learning, interview tips and placements.
Commenting, SA community integration coordinator Stephen Simpson said: "This partnership heralds a new benchmark in its combining of resources."
His counterpart at MNE Alistair Miller added: "This is a real opportunity to make a difference to people's quality of life."
Meanwhile, it was announced recently that Sycamore Lodge - which is also located in Wearside - is to extend its care for people with brain injuries.
The Sunderland Echo reported the local council has rubber-stamped plans for a new gym and catering facilities at the unit.
