A man is running the London Marathon this year to raise money for a brain injury charity.
Ian Lawson's wife sustained a severe brain injury during a horse riding accident in May 2006 and he is running the London Marathon in aid of Headway Essex, which has supported the couple since the incident, the Braintree and Witham Times reports.
Mr Lawson, a financial advisor in Essex, told the newspaper that the charity had been "remarkably helpful" over the past four years.
"I feel as if I just want to put something back into them for what they are doing for Karen and the family, myself included, and what they have done in the past," he added.
There are many other ways in which people can help the charity.
Earlier this month, for example, Headway urged people across the UK to donate any unwanted Christmas gifts, including clothes, crockery and CDs, to its charity shops.
