A man is raising funds for a brain injury charity by taking part in this year's London Marathon.
Professional musician Tim Ball will be running in aid of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT), which has cared for his friend Rupert Johnston for the past 13 years, reports the Herts Advertiser.
Mr Johnston suffered facial and brain injuries in a car accident and he lives in a self-contained flat with 24-hour care at a specialist unit run by BIRT.
Running for Rupert is the name of the team that comprises Mr Ball and two other friends, who are hoping to raise significant funds.
Referring to his friend's impressive determination, Mr Ball told the newspaper: "From those early days of learning to walk and talk again he has come a huge distance - however, Rupert's progress is slow and, as with any brain injury, the ultimate outcome is unknown."
This year's London Marathon takes place on April 25th and the event is expected to break the £500 million barrier for funds raised since its inception back in 1981.
