A leading medical journal has dedicated an issue specifically to brain injury, including a review of neuroimaging assessment and neuropathophysiology.
NeuroRehabilitation: An International Journal has devoted an issue specifically to hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HI-BI).
The issue will also include evaluations of the management of neurological and neurobehavioural sequelae of brain injury in adults and children.
Co-editor of the journal Nathan Zasler indicated that the publication will provide an "excellent resource" for assessing these conditions in the absence of a more comprehensive, dedicated source of information.
Guest editor David Arciniegas explained: "Applying a certain measure of care-by-analogy is understandable and unavoidable.
"Doing so allows those of us working with persons with HI-BI and their families to organise and deliver care that supports their neurological and functional recovery."
The announcement comes after it emerged that testing of the hormone progesterone to treat brain injury has reached its third phase.
