Jo Brand impressed by commitment to brain injury dancing fundraiser

Comedian Jo Brand gave her support to a brain injury charity this weekend by joining fundraisers in a dance marathon.

Although not taking part in the gruelling eight-hour jig, the frequent QI comedy show panellist cheered as dancers showed off their moves to support for Headway East London.

The dance was to support the charity's specialist Headway House centre, which specialises in physical therapies including neuro-physiotherapy, yoga and exercise therapies.

Commenting on her experience, Brand said: "I like watching other people exercising when I don't have to.

"I'd expected to get here and find people just wilting over the floor, and groaning and being carried off on stretchers."

Brand is a patron of the brain injury charity, which managed to get 50 dancers signed up to the fundraising event, hoping to secure £15,000 of additional funding.

Participants were required to raise at least £100 to be part of the Dance Marathon, which was supported by bands including The Funk Soul Brothers and La Supercool Discotheque, who ensured that dancers had enough to keep them moving.
