Brain injury sufferer to be honoured at tribute dinner

A brain injury sufferer is set to be commended for his work at a tribute dinner in the US.

Chris Leavens is one of five people being handed awards at the St Joseph's Foundation's annual event tonight (September 23rd) for his efforts in health care advocacy, the London Free Press Relayed.

The recognition may mark a big stride forward for the campaigner, who suffered a head trauma following a crash that left him needing rehabilitation treatment at Parkwood Hospital.

Other people set to receive prizes at the meal include Ann Van Sickle, who has battled a progressive neurological disease for over six decades.

Commenting on the awards ceremony, she said: "I've always been an advocate and educator for the disabled."

Darrell Ankarlo is another brain injury sufferer to have hit the headlines in recent weeks.

The KTAR radio station DJ was forced off the airwaves after a car crash in April.

However, he returned to his show last week, which he stated will help with his rehabilitation "miracle".
