Brain injury sufferer 'making miraculous recovery'

A fire fighter who suffered a brain injury is making miraculous strides down the road to recovery, according to his family.

Israel Stratton – also known as Izzy - was struck down with ailment after a road accident in August, leaving him with a head trauma and multiple fractures in his back, the Siuslaw News relayed.

His sister Hope May stated his loved ones are "pretty surprised" the 23-year-old did not develop paralysis after the incident, adding he is improving every day.

Mr Stratton has suffered a loss of sight as a result of the brain injury, but medics expect his condition to improve, the news provider claimed.

Meanwhile, he is working on the rehabilitation of his other senses at a treatment centre twice a week.

Speaking about her brother's recovery, Ms May said: "Izzy's a great uncle.

"The kids have been a really positive influence and have been helping out a lot."

Another brain injury patient said to be on the mend is Scottish student Diana Kerr.

The Heriot-Watt University undergraduate suffered a brain haemorrhage last year, but is "itching" to get back to class after an "amazing" recovery, according to the Daily Record.
